Personal Awareness

(Blogger has deleted my pictures 3 times tonight. I'm hoping to get them loaded soon. But until then a few updates.)

We have been working on Personal Awareness. Each child has their sticker chart w/ their name, name tags for circle time, and names on the wall. Everyday they are responsible for finding their name during several games and activities that we play during circle time and throughout the day. They are all doing so good being able to pick out their own name from everyone elses.

We have been talking about traits that each of us has. We've been comparing and contrasting eye color, hair color, and boy/girl. They LOVE looking at themselves in the mirror and telling me and their friends things about themselves. We sing a song "Looking in the mirror, what do I see?" (to the tune of Brown Bear Brown Bear).

Since they are all at different levels I'm trying to get each of them practicing their names in different ways. We've used shaving cream, tracing in the sand, tracing on paper, and just pointing to start learning to write our names.

Also, we are working a lot on becoming more independent by putting on our own shoes, clothes after potty time, brushing teeth, and cleaning up after we eat.

Finishing out this month and into September we will be working on Our 5 Senses, Living Things, Healthy Food, Staying Active, and Healthy Teeth.

Right Back At It

Welcome back everyone! The last two weeks have been full of so much learning and getting reacquainted w/ all of our friends.

Everyone has settled in nicely. We've only had a few melt downs, but for the most part everyone has fallen back into routine very nicely. We are working a lot on sharing, waiting our turn, following directions, and being good listeners. Today I started a sticker chart and we will continue w/ this possibly earning small prizes on Fridays. (If you would like to donate to our treasure box that would be very appreciative.)

We LOVE our new supplies that have been donated. The kids are really loving having their own box w/ their name on it and all of their own supplies. They smile and get excited everytime I have said "Go get our box. It's time for school." They are so eager to learn and see what we are about to do. If anyone else has children/parenting magazines that you are finished w/ we would love them. The kids love learning to cut out pictures of things they like.

This weekend I will work on getting our lessons posted for the month of August. Have a great weekend and thank you for sharing your children with me!
